Moving to Glebe? Here’s everything you need to know about one of Sydney’s most character-filled inner-west suburbs. Bohemian vibes, great food, and a proper village feel.

The Vibe

Glebe is like a smaller, more chilled Newtown. It’s got the alternative energy without the crowds — think vintage shops, bookstores, and cafes lining Glebe Point Road. The suburb has a strong student presence (USYD and UTS nearby), which means good cheap eats and a younger demographic mixed with long-term locals.

Key characteristics:

Local insight: Glebe has a bit of a mould problem in older rentals (Sydney humidity + old buildings). When inspecting, trust your nose — if it smells musty, walk away regardless of what the agent says.

☕ Coffee & Cafes

Glebe Point Road is the spine of the suburb. Most of the good cafes are here.
